Laser treatment of the eyes


The principle of the eye-laser-treatment is an extremely strong bundled ray of light placing on a distinct area of the eye to make a positive impact on it.

The following diagnosed diseases can be treated with laser therapy:

1. Argon laser therapy
a) Treatment of retina whole and its preliminary stages
b) Treatment of diabetic retina diseases and vessel closures of the retina and impaired circulation of the retina centre (macular degeneration)

2. Neodymium-YAG-Laser (YAG= yttrium-aluminum-garnet)
a) YAG laser iridectomy (avoidance of a glaucoma)
b) Treatment of the glaucoma (=lowering the intraocular pressure, SLT)
c) YAG laser capsulotomy: Removal of an optical disturbing cuticle in the inner eye of the patients who were surgically treated with cataract.

The laser therapy enables an ambulant therapy of patients without having a risk of an infection and also the patients having a relatively painless medical treatment. With a high precision in the microscopic area the laser therapy has many advantages that have not yet been achieved with other treatment techniques.
